Adrianne is a lifelong St. Mary’s County resident. She was born on Pax River NAS– her father was Navy– and was raised by a family who, as military members and educators, showed her the joy and importance of public service. Ms. Mathis went on to become an educator herself, teaching elementary school and serving as a reading specialist before going on to become a school administrator. For SMCPS, she taught at the Chesapeake Public Charter School, served as an Assistant Principal at both Spring Ridge Middle and Great Mills High School (all three schools are in 29B!), and served for the Central Office as the Equity Assurance Coordinator. Among other community organizations, Ms. Mathis has been actively involved with the NAACP and with current Delegate, Brian Crosby’s, campaign teams.
